ANTIQUARIAN BOOK REVIEW
Catalogue of the Month

The internationally renowned Antiquarian Book Review magazine nominated one of our recent catalogues as Catalogue of the Month.

To quote: "...if you wish to dip into the murky depths of criminallity, there would be few better places to start than Clifford Elmer Books' most recent catalogue. Covering all aspects of true crime and criminology, the most avid fan of man's inhumanity to man will find what they are looking for here".

OUR LATEST CATALOGUE

Our first catalogue of 2012 is now available free on request. Highlights include a copy of the extremely rare The Necessity for Criminal Appeal as Illustrated by The Maybrick Case by J.H. Levy, this copy being enhanced by the insertion of two autographed letters signed - one by Levy presenting a copy of the book to Lord James of Hereford.  The other letter is by Charles Meymott Tidy who gave evidence at the Maybrick Trial.  There is a nice collection of 80 consecutive Publisher bound issues of the Penny Dreadful The New Newgate Calendar (1890) together with a copy of the rare History of Newgate also bound-in.  A scarce 'Lindbergh' item is The Great Lindbergh Hullabaloo by Laura Vitray.  Fairburn's Edition of the Whole Proceedings on the Trial of John Thurtell and Joseph Hunt is probably the rarest of the contemporary reports of the murder of Mr William Weare.

Over 200 items are catalogued and subjects include: RARE & UNUSUAL. CLASSIC CASES, WESTERN AMERICANA, JACK THE RIPPER, FORENSIC and NOTABLE TRIALS SERIES.

In September 1978 we issued our first catalogue of True Crime & Criminology books, a very humble duplicated listing.  Since that time we have produced nearly two hundred subsequent editions, cataloguing many thousands of rare books, broadsides and items of ephemera, all relating to true crime.

NOTABLE SCOTTISH, ENGLISH & BRITISH TRIALS SERIES

We always aim to keep a comprehensive stock of this highly collectable series. If you are not familiar with them you can find more information by clicking the link on the left side of the Homepage in the Navigation block, 'Notable Trials - A Short History'.
