Dewey, AZ Rock Camp Books 1998 1575029235 / 9781575029238 First Edition Trade Paperback Fine Trade Paperback
xii+149pp+Appendix. Illus. in text. The fascinating story of Art Dalis and his incredible experiences with Hurricane Smith searching for the Lost Dutch Mine. After performing his own researches John Jacobson kept the material as much as possible in Art's own words and the many photographs, articles and book references will give the reader a better idea of what may or may not be true. The Peralta family from Mexico found the mine in the Superstition Mountains but they were ambushed by Indians during a last expedition to replenish their wealth as the Mexican War ended. The Apaches considered the Superstitions as sacred ground. Then the so-called Dutchman, Jacob Waltz later claimed that he had found the Peralta mine and on his death the legend was born. A fabulous tale about this most mysterious mine.
