For over half a century the convictions of George Skelly - who was hanged for the crime - and Charles Connolly went unchallenged by the courts. Following publication of this book, the case was referred to the Court of Appeal. The author reveals what really happened on that fateful night, how the two accused were framed by a corrupt detective and condemned by an amoral legal establishment. A story of unbelievable wickedness which resulted in the execution of one man and the false imprisonment of another. Also provides a fascinating insight into 1940s Liverpool.
