He tells how, as a deputy marshal, he went after and brought in men known to the public and government as dangerous and desperate criminals. He also relates the stories of how Al Capone "did more to help the common people than all the government agencies and charity places put together". An insight into the exposition of justice as it was dealt out in the 1920s, how often the welfare of the offendeer was put before the strict application of the law and the Hawk's own fall from grace which resulted from manipulation of the media by power-hungry politicians.
