PAPANIKOLAS, Zeese BURIED UNSUNG. Louis Tikas and the Ludlow Massacre. SIGNED PRESENTATION COPY Salt Lake City University of Utah Press 1982 0874802113 / 9780874802115 First Edition Hardcover Nr Fine VG xix+331pp+illus.For the thousands of Greek immigrants who went to the United States in the early years of the 20th-century, the alien land was made more formidable by the possibility that they would die in a foreign place and be buried unsung. Louis Tikas, a Greek immigrant union organizer, was killed in the battle between striking miners and state militia in Ludlow, Colorado in 1914. He was buried with all due and proper ceremony. An engrossing history of a man who was not the most important of miner's leaders, but stands for the whole generation of immigrant workers. Based on interviews with survivors of the strike, contemporary photographs and a variety of published and unpublished sources. Includes Selected Bibliography and Index. SIGNED on endpaper by Author and then by Helen Papanikolas presented to a friend in 1983. Price:
